Unappealing shots of tasty food.

Over the last month, I've been attempting to bake and also learn new recipes.

It means I'm doing something productive, I learn new skills, I don't have to wear pants to do it and most importantly I get to eat the results.

Cinnamon Rolls

I looked at a lot of recipes for Cinnamon Rolls.  They seemed straightforward enough and I conveniently had all the ingredients at home to make them. I did alter the cinnamon spread by adding a tablespoon of Nutella.  As I had melted the butter/cinnamon mix and effectively liquified it.  This was a fantastic move and tasted delicious.  I plan to make these again, but I am looking for a variation that makes them softer.

Verdict: A cheap easy recipe to follow that is great for baking noobs such as myself.

I attempted these over the weekend.  Holy mother of god were they good.  I don't have an electric mixer, and according to the internet you can't use a food processor or blender in it's place.  I think it's something to do with putting air into the mix.  So my arm got a work out manually whisking the mix, although I did use the processor for mixing the peanut butter and Philadelphia cream cheese.  If you do attempt to make them, I would highly recommend leaving the brownie layer to sit first and slowly pour the cream cheese layer over so it doesn't sink through.  Eat in small slices as they are very decedent.

Verdict: You should fucking make this.  Seriously, my life is different now.  It's fairly cheap to make and you get quite a lot of brownies out of it.  Make sure you read the recipe first.

This was the result of a "I'm hungry, but leaving the house requires pants so I'll see what I have in the kitchen".  I had some bacon and cream that didn't have much longer to live and some chorizo in the fridge.  I googled the ingredients and this baby came up.  Another win for my stomach.  Incredibly easy to make, I adjusted the recipe by omitting the rocket and baby spinach specified in the recipe and just threw half a cup of frozen spinach through it at the end.  I also didn't put in onion.  It took about 15 minutes to throw together and Jake and I destroyed it all.  I love that this recipe consists of ingredients that are always in my pantry, fridge/freezer.  I  do think that next time I would add a cup of spinach instead to vegetable to it up and if I had to make it for friends/family I'd throw together a salad and some herb bread.

Verdict:  This has been added as a regular to the menu.  Can be thrown together at a moments notice with staple ingredients and you can fancy it up for friends.  Cheap as all hell.

Sweet Potato Hash with Ham and Spinach.
Yesterday I was facing yet another going outside requires pants dilemma.  I looked through my pantry and after talking to my mum on Facebook decided to try hash.  Mum made it seem pretty simple - Grate Sweet Potato (Or Potato) add some chopped misc ingredients (Frozen Spinach and Ham). mix in an egg and pan fry in about 2 tablespoons of oil.  Throw onto some paper towel to crisp and then apply to face.

Verdict: Delicious.  So quick and easy to make.  Ingredients can vary to accommodate the contents of your pantry, fridge/freezer.  Add Sour Cream for deliciousness central.
